Youth For Global Action

  Who We Are:

YFGA, or Youth for Global Action is dedicated to the betterment of our world, one dollar at a time. Made up of a dedicated group of students, YFGA plans and carries out events both at Glenforest Secondary School, and in the local community. Since its conception, Youth for Global Action has had two main goals: awareness and fundraising. To the awareness end, each year YFGA hosts International Development Day (IDD), a chance for students of Glenforest to hear expert speakers from a variety of fields discuss global development issues in their respective lines of work and what is being done to solve them. After the presentations at IDD, the floor is opened to questions and a lively discussion between students and speakers follows.
  What We Do:

Each year, YFGA general council members vote and select an international aid organization to support. In reflecting the values of the school and the community, the charity selected is always secular, non-partisan and have minimal overhead costs. Through a variety of events including bake sales, Valentine’s Day Rose delivery and a school carnival, YFGA raises funds to donate to the charity selected. 100% of the money collected by YFGA goes directly to the aid organization chosen.
In its endeavours, YFGA is greatly supported by Glenforest Secondary School’s International Baccalaureate Student League (IBSL), Student Activity Council (SAC), the organizing council for the Talent Show, and the Glenforest student body. Most of all, YFGA exists thanks to the tireless work of its council members - without you, none of it would be possible.
